Contrast Checker

LOCAL

Checks contrast ratios according to WCAG 2.1.

Input

Output

What is Contrast Checker?

Contrast Checker calculates the luminance contrast between a foreground and background color and evaluates it against WCAG 2.1 thresholds. It provides an objective check for text readability when choosing brand colors, button states, cards, navigation, form labels, and other interface elements.

How to use Contrast Checker

Enter the foreground and background colors and review the calculated contrast ratio and WCAG 2.1 result.

When is Contrast Checker useful?

Contrast Checker is useful when checking text readability, validating accessible UI colors, or reviewing a design before implementation.

Example

A practical example is testing white text on a dark background to see whether the combination meets the expected WCAG contrast level.

Practical notes

Test the exact colors that appear after opacity, gradients, overlays, and disabled-state styling are applied. Passing contrast does not replace keyboard, focus, zoom, and screen-reader testing, but it prevents a common visual accessibility failure early in design.
