What is Docker Config Suite?

Docker Config Suite analyzes both Dockerfiles and Docker Compose documents, detects relevant versions, and presents configuration and best-practice observations in one place. It is intended for reviewing the relationship between an image build and the services that run that image rather than checking either file in isolation.

How to use Docker Config Suite

Provide a Dockerfile or docker-compose.yml configuration and review the detected images, versions, ports, volumes, and configuration hints.

When is Docker Config Suite useful?

Docker Config Suite is useful when auditing Docker configuration, understanding an unfamiliar container setup, or checking common configuration choices.

Example

A practical example is analyzing a project that contains both a Dockerfile and Compose configuration before deployment.

Practical notes

Use the findings as review prompts and verify them against the actual base image, runtime, and Compose specification. Pay particular attention to pinned versions, non-root execution, copied secrets, build context size, health checks, persistent volumes, and exposed ports.
